*We do not quote a basic tuning fee, because that does not reflect our "complete care" approach, in which we maintain your piano with a 1.5 hour full service visit. The basic tuning fee quoted by most tuners does not typically include extra work like pitch correction, repairs, adjustments & lubrication (regulation), tone (voicing), cleaning, humidity system maintenance, etc. The extra time we build into our appointment simply allows us to take better care of your instrument, and also give you the highest value for what you spend to mainain your piano. If you have your piano serviced regularly, the actual tuning will take less time, giving us more time to make your piano sound and feel more like it did when it was brand new.

For a first-time visit, some of that extra time may be spent evaluating, diagnosing, communicating with you about your priorities, explaining our recommendations for addressing the piano's needs during future visits, etc. Pianos that have been neglected may require the full appointment (or even longer) just to get them back up to pitch and tuned, depending on how long it has gone without service.

When contacting us, the telephone is more effective than email, because a real-time conversation is a much more efficient and effective way for us to learn about your piano's needs. If you prefer to contact us by email, we can provide a more helpful response if you include the following information:

   1. Piano manufacturer, approximate age, and type (upright or grand)
   2. Type of work needed (tuning, repairs, adjustments, voicing, humidity control, etc.)
   3. Number of months since last tuning
   4. Your location (city and major cross streets is sufficient)
   5. Phone number if you wish to be contacted by phone
