*We do not quote a basic tuning fee, and then charge extra for every adjustment and repair. Every piano requires much more than just an occasional tuning, which is why we maintain every piano with a 1.5-hour, full service visit. If a piano has not been maintained regularly, it may take a few visits to bring it back up to an acceptable level of performance. But that is only the beginning. The true benefit of the full service approach is when we can focus on the fine details of touch and tone to extract the highest level of performance from your piano and keep it there.
We prefer that you contact us by phone because a real time conversation allows us to ask clarifying questions so we can best understand how to serve you.
If you do contact us by email, please provide the following information:
1. Piano manufacturer, approximate age, and type (upright or grand)
2. Type of work needed (tuning, repairs, adjustments, voicing, humidity control, etc.)
3. Number of months since last tuning
4. Your location (city and major cross streets)
5. Phone number
Once your appointment is scheduled, here are some important things to remember:
- A quiet environment is necessary for tuning. The tuner must be able to hear very subtle sounds (faint harmonics at higher frequencies) during the tuning process. Loud voices (conversations, children), television, music, appliances, leaf blowers, and other sounds impair the tuner's ability to do the job accurately and in a timely manner.
- If you must cancel your appointment, please let us know 24 hours in advance.
- Payment is due on the day of the service (unless another arrangement has been made).
- Please remove all books and other objects from the piano before the appointment time.
